Your rights
If you have been arrested or formally charged with a crime, you have the right to speak to a solicitor or lawyer.
A solicitor will be able to:
- advise you what is happening
- explain any legal terms
- speak on your behalf and present your defence
For more information you should have a look at the leaflet Criminal Defence Services at the Police Station and in Court. You can find a link on the right hand side of the page.
