New Criminal Justice System website launched

11 Oct 2004

With your help the CJS Online website has undergone a major overhaul. This is part of a commitment by the Criminal Justice System to improving the services and information available to the public.

The navigation has changed to make it easier to find the information you want, by introducing categories for different types of visitor: Victim, Witness, Juror, Defendant and Offender. Each section offers factual information about what you can expect when you come into contact with the Criminal Justice System. The site provides step by step guides through the Criminal Justice process, from explaining to victims and witnesses what happens when you go to court and what support and advice you can get, to explaining more about punishment and rehabilitation of offenders. 'Walkthroughs' are available in each of these sections to give you a virtual tour through the Criminal Justice System.

The last section, The CJS, provides information on the system itself: how it works, its aims and objectives and 'What's New', featuring items such as legislative changes and articles on new initiatives and programmes aimed at improving the criminal justice process.
