Victims Fund: Provision for Victims of Sexual Offending

24 Nov 2004

The Home Office is placing £4 million over two years, recovered from the proceeds of crime, into the new Victims Fund to support the development of community-based services for victims of sexual offending.

The money, derived from the recovered proceeds of crime, will go to the new Victims Fund and will be used to help provide community based services to support the victims of sex crimes. Some of it will be used to increase the numbers of Sexual Assault Referral Centres – a 'one stop' location where victims of sexual assault can receive help and advice.

Work to help victims of sexual offending forms an important part of the Government's strategy to ensure that the new, tougher legislation introduced in the Sexual Offences Act 2003, is fully utilised.

Established voluntary and community organisations working to help the victims of sexual violence and abuse in England and Wales are eligible for funding. Follow the link on the right for further information on the fund, including key criteria and process for application.
