Going to Court
Usually you will be met by a member of the Witness Service and, depending on who has asked you to attend, a representative from the Prosecution or Defence.
You will then have to wait until you are called as a witness. It's a good idea to take something with you to read while you wait. The facilities at the court will include public toilets and somewhere to buy refreshments.
You can ask if you would like to read through your statement. Apart from police officers and lawyers dealing with the case, you shouldn't talk to anyone about the evidence you will be giving before you go into the witness box. If you have discussed the evidence with other people, especially other witnesses, you might find when you get into court that your evidence is doubted. When it is your time to give evidence an usher will collect you and take you to the witness box.
